  • ▸LTA rates the Venturous top for up to 1,500 lbs of static weight and 750 lbs dynamic. Check the rating for your exact cap and rack.
  • ▸This fall, LTA’s Jason, Ranch and ATC brands move under one name: Venturous Truck Tops. LTA says the models and warranty coverage aren’t changing.
  • ▸The 2026 SEMA Show runs November 3–6 in Las Vegas. It’s trade-only except Friday, November 6, when it opens to the public.
  • ▸We install Venturous, Leer and other leading truck caps in Rockwall.

What is Venturous Truck Tops?

Venturous is a truck cap (topper, camper shell) brand from LTA Manufacturing, an American company that has been building caps for decades under other names. LTA launched Venturous at the 2023 SEMA Show, and SEMA News reported the company calling it “the first major advancement to truck top manufacturing in more than 50 years.”

The pitch is the way the cap is made. Instead of building a shell by hand in an open mold, Venturous caps come out of a closed mold. LTA says its caps are “proudly engineered and manufactured in the USA.”

What PolyFuse actually changes

Most fiberglass caps are made in an open mold. LTA describes that process as fiberglass and resin “mixed with fillers such as calcium carbonate.” It works, and it’s how a lot of good caps are still built, but results depend on the hands doing the layup.

PolyFuse is LTA’s patent-pending alternative: a closed-mold injection molding process. According to LTA, that gives a cap that is more uniform and consistent in shape, eliminates air pockets and reduces the risk of condensation.

Load ratings are manufacturer claims. Your cap, your rack and your truck each have a limit, and the lowest one is the one that counts.

Ranch, Jason and ATC are becoming Venturous

If you’ve shopped for a cap before, you may know LTA’s older brands better than Venturous. Jason Truck Caps started in 1972 in Elkhart, Indiana. Ranch Fiberglass followed in 1986, also in Elkhart, and ATC Truck Covers was founded in 1994 in Garnett, Kansas. The three came together under LTA Manufacturing in 2017, and Venturous joined them in 2023.

In fall 2026, LTA is moving all of those brands, and the company name itself, to a single name: Venturous Truck Tops. LTA says “the products and models our customers know are not going away,” and that warranty coverage stays the same. If you own a Ranch, Jason or ATC cap, nothing about it changes. You’ll just see the Venturous name on new ones.

The Venturous lineup, by how you use the truck

Venturous sorts its caps by job rather than by material, which is a useful way to shop:

  • ·On the Go: daily-driver caps like the Echo, Fusion and Icon, for a clean look and locked, dry cargo space.
  • ·On the Job: work caps like the Workforce line and LoadMaster HD, with side access and room for racks and tools.
  • ·Off the Grid: overland caps like the Ozark, the cab-high cap Venturous launched with, built to carry roof racks and rooftop tents.

Venturous at SEMA, then and now

Venturous made its debut at SEMA in 2023 with the Ozark cab-high topper. Off Road Xtreme’s show coverage noted its dark-tinted glass, an aluminum-frame rear door and skirt matched to the tailgate, a bright LED third brake light, and Axalta paint for color matching.

The 2026 SEMA Show runs November 3–6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It’s a trade show, so most days are for industry only, but Friday, November 6 is open to the public. New products are judged in categories that include Truck & Off-Road, which covers truck and off-road accessories, overlanding and recreation. That’s where new caps, bed systems and racks show up first, and we’ll be watching for what’s worth bringing to trucks here in Rockwall.

SEMA is trade-only, except Friday, November 6, 2026, when the show opens to the public.

How to choose a truck cap

Whatever brand you end up with, these are the questions that decide whether a cap works for you:

  • ·Your truck’s exact year, make, model and bed length. Caps are built to fit, so this comes first.
  • ·Cab-high or high-rise. Cab-high keeps a clean line; high-rise gives you more room inside.
  • ·Side access. Work trucks usually want side doors so you can reach tools without climbing in.
  • ·Racks. If you plan to carry bikes, kayaks or a rooftop tent, check the cap’s rated load before you buy.
  • ·Paint and windows. Color-matched caps take longer to arrive, and window and door options vary by model.
